Baltimore, MD (January 3, 2017) Ashley Cannon, Ph.D., M.S., has been named the 2016 winner of the Francis S. Collins Scholars Program in Neurofibromatosis Clinical and Translational Research, sponsored by the Neurofibromatosis Therapeutic Acceleration Program at The Johns Hopkins University. The program works to create a community of expert clinician-scientists and grooms them to be leaders in neurofibromatosis type 1 research and clinical care. Cannon is an instructor at the University of Alabama-Birmingham and she plans to study the effect of selumetinib on tumors that grow just under the skin in neurofibromatosis patients.
